Terrain: Quiet singletrack road, farm tracks and a short section of road through Amulree.
Facilities: There are no facilities on this route but Dunkeld and Aberfeldy has shops, pubs/cafes and public toilets.
Key Points:
  • This route would be suitable for a kids bike trailer but please note it does involve a section of the main road through Amulree.

Route Description

Begin at the Amulree village hall car park. Turn right onto the singletrack Glen Quaich/Kenmore road following parallel to the loch with it on your right.

Continue on this road for approximately 5km until you reach the end of Loch Freuchie. Take a right and follow a path along the top of the loch past a farm. After approximately 0.6km the path will break away from the loch and begin heading uphill. Keep following this track as it branches round to the right.

You will now be higher than the loch on the other side and making your way back to Amulree. At around 10km in to the whole route (from Amulree) you will begin leaving the loch behind before arriving back in Amulree to complete the loop.
