OS Landranger Map: 52 Pitlochry &Crieff
Terrain: Forest roads and tracks, a mix of well surfaced and maintained road with others very rocky and bumpy.
Facilities: There are no facilities on this route but Aberfeldy has shops, pubs/cafes and public toilets.
Key Points:
  • This route is only suitable May – October due to lying snow.
  • At time of writing (March 2021) this route contains a stile to pass a locked deer gate. This will be very difficult with a heavy bike such as an ebike. Please take care when using this stile with children. We have confirmation that a new self closing gate will be installed by the council in the coming months.

At the loch approximately 4.7km in follow the core path network arrows to the right and use the stile to pass the deer gate. (This stile is being replaced imminently by P&K council with a new self closing gate)

This is where you delve into the dense forest, which can be a bit damp at times, but beautiful and feels like a true adventure.

Some sections of the forest are dense and dark.

Continue to follow this track until you reach a junction, take the right hand track and follow this uphill, the forest begins to feel more open, the track levels off and begins to descend.

Once you reach the bottom of the descent take a left and you’ll be back at your car in 1.2km.

This route also works well in reverse.
