Blair Atholl

Blair Atholl and Bridge of Tilt is a village bounded on the south side by the River Garry and bisected by its tributary, the southerly flowing River Tilt. Since 2008 the village has been part of the Cairngorms National Park.

The village has small shops, places to stay and to eat as well as a fuel station. There are daily train connections south to Perth and north to Aviemore and Inverness. The A9 is bypassing Blair Atholl, and Sustrans NCN 7 connects the village with Pitlochry in the south and Inverness in the north. The Atholl Country Life Museum, including the recreated Trinafour Post Office, and Blair Castle and its gardens are both worth a visit. Blair Atholl Watermill is a working water mill, producing flour and oatmeal and offering bread making courses. The mill also has a tea room and mill tours are available. Located on a small industrial estate less than a kilometre west of the station, Wasted Degrees brewery and taproom is very welcoming of cyclists for a quick pint or a meal. Diana’s Grove at Blair Castle, named after the Roman goddess of hunting, features two acres of tranquil woodland in the castle grounds within the Atholl Estate where you can stroll amongst some of the country’s finest and tallest trees. the Grove hosts a nationally important collection of exotic conifers and many champion specimens, including the tallest Japanese larch and Red fir in Britain.
